520 ## $aIndirect speech or reported speech is a big area in the English language, it has become the subject of linguistic studies only recently, it arouses a growing interest in numerous linguists and it is defined in various ways. The aim of study is to investigate the grammatical features of indirect speech in English and Vietnamese as well as to find out the similarities and differences between them. Based on findings presented in the previous chapter, the following remarks can be drawn. Grammatical are variety of structures used in indirect speech in English and Vietnamese. With the above aims, the method of the study depends on knowledge collected from the previous ectures of my teachers and the supportive help of my supervisor & my friends. Some books and references are looked unpublished by Longman Group (FE) Ltd, Oxford University, etc. Furthermore, to help learners have clear understanding about direct and indirect speech, all definitions, analysis & examples of my study are extracted from words of Quirk, R (1973), Alexander, L. G (1988) and Thomson, A. J. (1985), etc. Finally, there are a number of documents for my research selected from reliable sources on websites. The result of the study comes from collecting indirect speech in grammatical features in both languages from English and Vietnamese language specified books as well as articles. These data are then categorized into aspects and characteristics of grammatical features. The study is conducted based on the qualitative and quantitative approach to find down the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese languages.
