520 ## $aIn communicative interactions, people are interested in the cultural traits of language to achieve communicative goals. Therefore, this study focuses on examining English euphemism in terms of culture and with reference to the Vietnamese equivalents. Basing on the description and analysis of using euphemisms in the two languages, the cultural differences of euphemisms and the factors affected cultural differences of euphemisms between English and Vietnamese are presented. The data in English and Vietnamese from various linguistic books, dictionaries and from the internet are analyzed. The findings show that English and Vietnamese euphemisms have cultural differences and these cultural differences in euphemisms between the two languages are created by some factors. It is hoped that the study will be useful to those who want to increase cultural knowledge of English and Vietnamese euphemism and improve cultural communication competence.
