520 ## $aThe aim of this research is investigating into English preposition of place ‘in’, ‘at’, ‘on’ with reference to Vietnamese equivalents in term of syntactic and semantic features. Therefore, this study focuses on finding out the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese in the use of these prepositions. With this aim of the study, the author has used some major and supporting methods. Firstly, descriptive, comparative and contrastive methods are used in order to give complete and detailed description of syntactic and semantic features of English prepositions and English prepositions of place ‘in’, ‘at’, ‘on’ and identify similarities and differences with Vietnamese equivalents. Besides, some other methods such as analytical and synthetic methods, survey are used as supporting methods. After studying, the author has given the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese in the use of these prepositions. Especially, in semantic term, there is a big difference between two languages
