520 ## $aMy graduation thesis namely “An analysis of lexical cohesive devices in functional food advertisements in English and Vietnamese” involves the analysis study of the lexical cohesive devices in functional food advertisements. In this study, the descriptive, contrastive, deductive, inductive and equivalent translational methods are used for finding out the lexical cohesive devices in functional food advertisements in English and Vietnamese. The findings from the data analysis show that the two kinds of discourse, English FFAs for Amway and Vietnamese ones have both similarities and differences in terms of the features of FFAs for Amway and in terms of the employment of lexical cohesive devices. However, it is noteworthy that the similarities seem to be much more than the differences because of the some reasons; firstly, some FFAs for Amway originally in English are translated into Vietnamese ones, secondly, Vietnamese writers are fully aware of the language of advertising as well as the writing style of English writers, and then they can imitate their ways.
