520 ## $aResearch purposes: To find out the similarities and differences between midwifery terminologies in English and Vietnamese in terms of structural and semantic features as well as suggesting some possible implications for teaching them to the learners who study English as a foreign language. Methods of the study: The study uses a number of methods including descriptive, comparative, contrastive, analytical and synthetic methods. Results of the study: In terms of structural features, both English and Vietnamese midwifery terminology have certain similarities and differences of word type, structural method, number of structural elements and structural model. In terms of semantic features, the English-Vietnamese midwifery terminology shares many similarities in the identifying characteristics as well as their structural model. Furthermore, some implications are suggested for teaching and learning midwifery terminologies. Conclusion: This thesis has focused on studying the semantic and structural features of midwifery terminology in English and Vietnamese to find out their similarities and differences. Due to the limitation of time, research data and the limited knowledge of the author, mistakes and shortcoming are unavoidable. As a result, suggestions for a further study are given.
