520 ## $aResearch purposes: To find out the similarities and differences between Guessing verbs group in English and their Vietnamese equivalents in terms of structural and semantic features as well as suggesting some possible implications for teaching ,learning , translating for Vietnamese learners of English. Methods of the study: The study uses a number of methods including descriptive method, contrastive analysis method. Results of the study: In terms of syntactic features, The GUESSING verb group has two sentence patterns: SV and SVO. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese equivalents has three sentence patterns, that is, SV SVO and SVOC. In English, the complement does not appear. In terms of semantics, the seven verbs studied are verbs whose syntax may vary, thus, in a number of cases, affecting their semantics. The wide variety of each subtype, which has different features. Furthermore, some implications are suggested for teaching and learning Guessing verb group. Conclusion: This thesis has focused on studying the syntactic and semantic features of Guessing verb group in English and their Vietnamese equivalents to find out their similarities and differences. Due to the limitation of time, research data and the limited knowledge of the author, mistakes and shortcoming are unavoidable. As a result, suggestions for a further study are given.
