This thesis explores the intricate use of Gothic elements in Edgar Allan Poe's short stories and their subsequent Vietnamese translations. Gothic literature, characterized by its exploration of the macabre, the supernatural, and the psychological depths of human experience, finds a rich representation in Poe’s works. This study focuses on two key stories which are “The Black Cat” and “The Fall of the House of Usher” analyzing how Poe’s signature themes of madness, decay, and isolation
