520 ## $aThis study aimed to explore the impact of applying the flipped classroom model in teaching English paragraph writing to 128 11th-grade students at Ta Quang Buu Secondary and High School in Hanoi. Given the increasing importance of productive skills like writing, a mixed-methods research approach was employed, including pre- and post-tests, questionnaires, and interviews, to collect comprehensive quantitative and qualitative data. The pre-test results showed that the majority of students struggled with organizing ideas, using vocabulary, and applying grammar, with 64% of students scoring between 4.5 and 5.5, indicating a need for a more effective teaching approach. Following the flipped classroom intervention, the post-test results demonstrated significant improvement in student writing performance: 60.9% of students scored 7.0 or higher, a sharp increase from the previous 14.9%. Furthermore, qualitative data revealed that students had a positive attitude toward the model, feeling more prepared, less anxious, and more responsible for their learning. However, the study also identified certain challenges, including some students' difficulties with self-study, time management, and technological issues. From the teachers' perspective, they expressed support for the model but were concerned about time constraints, their own technological proficiency, and the alignment with an exam-oriented curriculum. In conclusion, the study finds that the flipped classroom model is an effective instructional strategy for improving English writing skills. It not only enhances writing proficiency but also promotes student autonomy and active engagement. To be successfully implemented on a broader scale, comprehensive support in technology, professional training, and clear guidance is essential to address the identified challenges.
