520 ## $aThis research aims to explore the various types of classroom interaction, their roles, and identify the most prevalent type of interaction in speaking classes at a University in Ha Noi. It employs a descriptive qualitative approach, specifically a naturalistic study. Data collection methods included observation, recording, and documentation. The researcher observed classroom activities, recorded the teaching and learning processes, and compiled notes as documentation. Findings revealed three types of classroom interaction in the speaking class at English One Course: teacher-student interaction (TS), student-teacher interaction (ST), and student- student interaction (SS). Each type served different roles; for example, teacher- student interactions included providing explanations, praise, correcting mistakes, sharing information, asking questions, clarifying, directing drills, repeating words, encouraging, translating to the first language, and fostering moments of surprise and laughter. In student-teacher interactions, roles included students’ responses, initiating questions, and addressing confusion. Student-student interactions primarily involved pair and group work. The dominant form of interaction observed was teacher interaction, leading to the conclusion that teacher-student interaction was the most prominent in the speaking classes at a University in Ha Noi. This interaction contributed positively to students' speaking skills.
