520 ## $aEnglish descriptive writing skills is a vitally crucial language skill that is extremely necessary for learners to master so that they can succeed in English communication. This research aims to find out students' attitudes towards descriptive writing skills, identify difficulties faced by students in the learning process, and assess the usefulness of applying English digital stories in learning and teaching descriptive writing skills for 12th grade students. The researcher uses an action research approach model. The sample of this research includes 50 students in Dong Da High School, who are randomly chosen from the school population. The four instruments of the research are pre-test, post-test, survey questionnaire, and interview. After collecting the data, the researcher then uses quantitative and qualitative method to analyse the data. The results indicated that the student respondents identify descriptive writing skills as an important but difficult skill. The difficulties they encounter are difficulties related to the consultatory descriptive writing material and difficulties related to themselves as writers. The results also revealed that English digital stories are useful to improve the student respondents' descriptive writing skills.
