520 ## $aThe thesis, relying on the theoretical foundations of collaborative learning, analyzed the impact of the collaborative learning application to improve English reading comprehension skills among non-major technical students at a university in Hanoi. This is an action research conducted on a group of 112 non-English majored students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, learning general English in their first- year at the university. The level of participants is mostly in mid-A1 level and early A2 as they coming from different parts of Vietnam just entered the university. Their majors are engineering and technical, so the English proficiency seems to be limited though reading comprehension is still their strength compared to other skills such as speaking, listening and writing. Using cooperative activities in teaching English reading skills has proven their positive impact on the students as found in data from learners‘ assessment, test results and the teacher‘s observation.
