520 ## $aVocabulary plays a fundamental role in early language development, particularly for young learners who rely on concrete, engaging experiences to acquire new words effectively. In recent years, game-based learning has gained increasing attention as an instructional approach that promotes motivation, participation, and meaningful language use. This study investigates the effectiveness of using games to enhance English vocabulary acquisition among 4-year-old children at Tuoi Tho Kindergarten in Hanoi, with a specific focus on both learning outcomes and learners’ motivational responses. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative data. Two classes of 4-year-old learners (n = 50) were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was taught vocabulary through interactive games, while the control group received traditional instruction using flashcards, repetition, and picture-based explanations.
